Post-acne treatment
Many people are faced with acne (acne disease) – this is a skin disease in which rashes of different sizes and numbers appear on the face and body. If this disease is not treated or is not treated correctly, the formations on the skin do not heal well and spots and scars are formed. Such consequences of rashes are called postacne.
In this article, we will take a detailed look at what causes post-acne and how to treat such unpleasant skin changes.
What causes post-acne
Not all rashes on the skin leave behind spots or scars. There are a number of factors that can cause acne to turn into postacne. The main ones are:
◼ A severe form of acne with deep skin damage. It is this form of acne that most often turns into a scar form of postacne.
◼ Long duration of the inflammatory process in the skin. In 95% of cases of acne, there will be consequences in the form of postacne lasting more than a year.
◼ Skin traumatization and improper treatment. If you regularly squeeze pimples yourself, then the inflammatory elements of acne will be traumatized. Improper treatment can also worsen the situation with acne and increase the risk of post-acne. In more detail about what causes rashes, how to properly prevent and treat them, we told in the article about acne.
◼ Genetic predisposition to acne. If one of the relatives had postacne and skin problems, then the risk of the disease in other family members is also high.
We also talked about what acne is and how to treat it in our video.
Postacne manifests itself in the form of various types of scars: rectangular, chipped or rounded.
In addition to scarring, postacne can change the color of the skin – this phenomenon is called hyperpigmentation. The relief of the skin can also change, then hypertrophic or bulging scars are formed.
How to treat acne
In order to get rid of the unpleasant consequences of rashes as effectively as possible, it is necessary to contact experienced professionals in a cosmetology clinic. At Esteva Clinic, the most effective and modern methods are used to treat post-acne.
Laser resurfacing with a CO2 laser
Fractional therapy using a CO2 laser is today the most effective method of treating acne scars. The technique gives excellent results, which are visible from the first session. The new technology allows you to affect only the necessary areas of the skin, without affecting all other areas. This ensures quick healing and safety of the procedure for most skin types.
The principle of operation of the fractional CO2 laser is based on the fact that during operation it makes microscopic holes in the skin (so-called “columns”). This process leads to the production of new collagen, which smoothes acne scars.
The duration of the procedure is 30-60 minutes. In most cases, 2-3 procedures are necessary to obtain the maximum result. Improvement in the condition of the skin after acne can be seen already a week after the CO2 laser procedure. Improvement in acne scarring will last up to 6 months after initial treatment.
During grinding, local anesthesia is applied to the skin to minimize unpleasant sensations.
At the Esteva Clinic, a CO2 laser of the American brand Adonyss CarbonFrax is used for work. The use of Adonyss CarbonFrax equipment is approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration).
The peculiarity of this device is its gentle action, which allows you to shorten the duration of the rehabilitation period. The variety of modes and nozzles also add convenience, which allows you to choose the parameters of laser skin resurfacing more individually.

Microneedle RF lifting
A relatively new technology that uses microneedles to deliver radio frequency energy into the deeper layers of the dermis. In addition, the fractional or microneedling radio wave method is used to treat various dermatological problems, including wrinkles, atrophic and hypertrophic scars.
The use of this method is justified from the point of view of evidence-based medicine. Several studies have been conducted evaluating the effectiveness of the microneedling radio wave method in the treatment of acne and all of them have shown that this technique is safe and effective in the treatment of postacne.
The duration of the treatment course is 3-4 procedures with an interval of 2-3 weeks. The microneedle radio wave method is performed using disposable needles (one set is designed for one patient), which guarantees your safety.
The rehabilitation period (the time of swelling and slight redness of the skin) after the microneedle radio wave method procedure may last several days. It is also possible to use local anesthesia if desired.
At Esteva Clinic, an Israeli-made Body Shape III device is used to treat post-acne. Its distinguishing feature is the Computerized Temperature Control System (CSCS), which is able to scan and verify each radio wave pulse. Such a decision guarantees the maximum effectiveness of the technique.
Temperature sensors built into the applicators allow – to ensure additional efficiency and safety of the conducted sessions.
You can read more about the procedure in our article “Microneedle RF lifting” or watch the video.
In addition to these two procedures, the cosmetologist can additionally offer a course of mesotherapy or peelings, which will help to improve and consolidate the positive result. At an individual consultation, an Esteva Clinic doctor will select the right procedure for you and tell you in detail how to care for post-acne skin and prevent the appearance of new rashes.
